How sermon audio hosting works

Every Ekkli church can upload and publish sermon audio from day one. There is no separate media paywall to unlock before you can put Sunday's message online, and that is true on the six-month free trial as much as on a paid plan.

Audio draws on one shared media allowance covering sermon recordings, images, background music and video. Two things follow from that, and both are worth knowing before you rely on it:

• A church that uploads no video simply has more room for audio. The allowance is not carved up per media type, so you are not left with unusable space in the wrong bucket.
• Nothing is ever deleted automatically. When you reach the cap, new uploads are blocked until you free up space or move up a plan. Older recordings are never removed to make room for newer ones, because a sermon recording is very often a church's only copy.

To put that in perspective: a typical 40-minute sermon as a compressed MP3 usually lands around 30–40 MB, so even Small's 5 GB gives most churches well over a hundred messages of runway, and Ministry's 50 GB comfortably covers years of weekly teaching. Exact file sizes vary with recording quality, so treat that as a rough planning figure rather than a guarantee.

Video: import and archive, not just re-upload

Plenty of churches already livestream or record video through YouTube or Vimeo, and re-uploading that content a second time just to have it inside the platform is wasted effort. Ekkli's video handling is built around that:

• Link normalisation. Paste a YouTube or Vimeo link and Ekkli tidies it up and embeds it properly on your site, with no hand-formatting of embed codes.
• YouTube channel bulk import. If your church already publishes to a YouTube channel, Ekkli can pull that channel's existing videos in from its feed, instead of you re-adding past messages one link at a time.

Linked video does not consume your storage allowance, because the file stays where it already lives. Your video archive sits alongside your audio archive on the same public sermon page.

The public sermon archive and live pages

Every Ekkli church gets a public sermons archive page as part of its church website — a browsable list of past messages, whatever mix of hosted audio and imported video your church has published, visible to anyone who visits without a login. It is the page you would send to someone who missed Sunday, or link as a Sermons tab in your navigation.

Alongside it, a live page gives your church a consistent standing link for whatever you are streaming this week, rather than sharing a fresh URL every Sunday. Set a stream link and a banner lights up across your site; when the service ends it disappears again, with nothing to remember to switch off.

Both pages are part of the church website included on every plan. On the trial your site runs on an ekkli.net address with a small "Powered by Ekkli" footer; using a domain you already own and removing that footer is the custom domain support add-on at €9 a month, included at no extra cost from the Small plan upward. Podcast: turning sermons into a real feed

Publishing audio on your own site is one thing; showing up automatically in Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other podcast apps is another. That step needs a proper feed built to podcast conventions, not just a list of audio links.

Ekkli's podcast feed is an add-on at €12 a month, included at no extra cost from the Growing plan upward. It produces a feed with the tags the directories expect — episode titles, artwork, descriptions and the rest — and checks your artwork against their rules before you submit. Once the feed URL is submitted, new sermons publish to your listeners automatically as you upload them, with no separate podcast host and no manual re-submission per episode.

Because a feed depends on episodes staying reachable over time, it pairs naturally with more storage: a feed pointing at audio you are about to run out of room to keep is not one a listener can rely on.
